Character Limit on the Planning Board for Better Performance

Dear Customers and Partners, 

with June 30, 2022, SAP will implement a modification for the way how the activity subjects, absence and reservation descriptions on the Planning Board are displayed.

What is happening?

With the date mentioned above, SAP introduces a character limit for displaying the activity subjects, absence and reservation descriptions on the Planning Board. This means that displaying of activity subjects, absence and reservation descriptions that exceed a character limit of 256 characters will be trimmed going forward. Please note that the trimming will not happen on database level and data will be preserved.

What benefits will this bring?

• With the character limit, SAP reduces the traffic in the backend and with this keep up the performance of the Planning Board.

What is the implementation plan? 

SAP plans to implement this modification for the Preview program first and by June 30, 2022 this modification will be made generally available.

Are there any actions required?

There is no action for you to take. With the mentioned date, all your existing and newly created activities, absences and reservations will be displayed up to a maximum of 256 characters.
